Nepal crisis: Ego and imature leadership

Recently Nepal Prime Minister Pranchanad resigned because of the President Ram Baran denied his decision regarding the appointment of the Maoists in defense forces.

As we all know that after monarchy, infant democracy was established in Nepal under the leadership of these two heads. If the Army head was not able to absorb the 19000 moist in defense forces that must have some reason because in defense there are some criteria for selection process. If defense officer will accept the way he demanded tomorrow again some issue can occur in same way.

Also the decision taken by the President was right. He has to think beyond the political party. He only refused the PM order for this issue and Prachand resigned. It means he was only maintaining ego rather than the country and his group of the people. If new government will be formed on Sunday, that will be the biggest win of the Nobel vision of the president.

The tape, Prachanda had said that though the PLA numbered only between 7-8,000 combatants, its strength was given as 35,000 during a UN verification so that even after some members being disqualified, their final headcount remained over 19,000.

He also said the decision to sign the peace pact and take part in the election was part of the “revolutionary counter-attack strategy” to capture power. The money that the Maoists had forced the government to disburse as salary to the PLA fighters would be used to continue buying arms and prepare for a new battle, he had indicated.

As the opposition Nepali Congress party on Wednesday flayed him for the remarks and the communists asked for a clarification, Prachanda called a press conference to say that the tape was made one and a half years ago and was no longer relevant.

“I have made innumerable such speeches and given such training in the past,” he said. “We were once a revolutionary party with a price on our heads. Also, at that time we feared there was a conspiracy to derail the election. Things have changed since then. Airing the tape now is a ploy to divert attention from the president’s unconstitutional step.”

I am quite sure that Maoists one day will take over the Nepal. The Maoists are the ideologically committed people and RNA can’t compete with them for a longer time.
